Rules

  1. Move all circles, vertically or horizontally, so they enter the gray areas.
  2. Show the movement of a circle by an arrow, with the tip of the arrow in a grey cell. The arrows do not bend, and do not cross other white circles or lines of other arrows, they go straight to their grey area.
  3. The number in a gray area must be equal to the total of the numbers of the circles which enter the area. Empty gray areas may have any sum total, but at least one circle (arrow tip) must enter a gray area.

  1. Fill in (colored) cells with the following rules.
  2. Cells containing numbers cannot be colored.
  3. The number shows how many colored cells are next to a cell, vertically and horizontally. However, in each rectangle bordered by bold lines, there is one (and only one) wrong number (showing a wrong colored cell number).
  4. Colored cells cannot connect horizontally or vertically. White cells must not be separated by colored cells.

  1. Draw bold lines on the dotted lines to divide the board into blocks. Each block has one white or one black circle (a “star”).
  2. The blocks are (two fold rotational) symmetrical with the star in the point of symmetry.
  3. Filling in the blocks with the black stars gives the outline of an object (a picture).

Features

This is a Nikoli original puzzle. The name “Tentai Show” has the double meaning of two fold rotational symmetry and astronomical show. In Japanese “Ten” means dot, “tai-Show” means symmetry, and “Tentai” things astronomical.

  1. The areas enclosed by bold lines are called “Tiles” and you color the tiles with the following rules.
  2. A number in a cell with a diagonal line tells the number of black cells there has to be to the right or downward in the line/column of the cell with the diagonal, till the limit of the grid or another cell with a diagonal and numbers.
  3. The cells of a tile must all be colored or left uncolored.
  4. The solution will show the outline of a thing or object.

  1. Fill in the colored cells with the following rules.
  2. The areas enclosed with bold lines are called “Rooms.” The number in a room shows the number of continuous black cells in that room. Rooms with no number may have any number of black cells.
  3. Black cells cannot connect across bold lines, vertically or horizontally.
  4. When all stones are “dropped”straight down (empty cells under colored cells deleted) the stones must fill the bottom half of the grid without empty cells (then dropped stones may cross and connect across bold lines).

  1. The areas enclosd by bold lines, are called “Countries.” Move the circles, vertically or horizontally, so each country contains only one circle.
  2. The numbers in the circles indicate how many cells they have to pass through. Circles without numbers may move any distance, but some of them do not move.
  3. The circles cannot cross the tracks of other circles and cannot go over other circles.

What is Satogaeri?

Satogaeri first saw the light of day on the pages with Omoro puzzles of “Nikoli Vol. 99” on 2002. The inventor is Z_H, who is making puzzles for nikoli.com now. This puzzle was published in Nikoli Vol. 100 and Vol. 101, too. It was not published after that on paper. We revived it on nikoli.com in 2013 after 11 years.

  1. Divide the grid into L shaped blocks – one block wide. All blocks must be L shaped.
  2. Cells with open circles form the knee (bend) in a block.
  3. The number in an open circle shows the number of cells in its block.Open circles without numbers may have any number of cells.
  4. Cells with arrows form one end of its block, the arrow points towards the knee of this block.
  5. The number of marks in a block (arrows or open circles) may be 0, 1, 2, or 3.

    *Sashigane is the Japanese for a carpenter’s square.

  1. Here you have to mark out pencils, draw lines from the tip () of the pencils, and use the numbers in the pencils. The lines go through the cells from the tip of pencils.
  2. A pencil is a straight group of one or more cells with the tip (the lead) at one end. The line from the tip goes through the center of cells horizontally, vertically, or turning.
  3. The cell with a number in the pencil, shows the length of the pencil. One pencil may have no, one, or several numbers in its cells.
  4. The line from the tip of the pencil goes through one or as many cells as the number in the pencil.
  5. The line from a pencil cannot cross itself or branch off.
